Bike Parks are a great way to take in BC's mountains - with manicured runs for beginners and black diamond trails for the experienced thrill seeker.

Whistler Bike Park

Cross Country
These rides appeal to entry level cyclists as well as the 'pro', and offer lots of backcountry adventure over a variety of terrain.
Most small centers in the Kootenays like Fernie, Nelson, and Golden have wilderness trails leading right out of town into the bush.
A few cross country suggestions: The Moonraker Trails near Golden, the secluded trails in the Cranbrook Community Forest, and the popular Seven Summits Trail out of Rossland.
Downhill or Freeride
For the most advanced rider - these trails link sections of tracks with ladder bridges and usually involve obstacles and steep descents.
You'll find excellent trails on Vancouver's North Shore as well as in the Kootenay Rockies.
Some great downhill locations: Bootleg Mountain close to Kimberley, Mount Swansea in Invermere, the Mt. 7 trails in Golden, and the North Shore in Vancouver.
Rails to Trails
If you're looking to get off the highway and see BC from a different perspective, a 'rails to trails' type of adventure is for you.
These are easy getaways that families can enjoy - with lots of historic points of interest and accommodations on most trails.
These trails wind throughout the Province using old railway lines and are ideal for cyclists of all levels to see and explore lakes, rivers, and unforgettable mountain vistas!
Some Rail /Trail recommendations:
- Slocan Rail Tail with gentle slopes and lots of amenities along the way.
- Galena Trail is a well maintained trail with absolutely beautiful views.
- The Christina Lake Trail is a longer ride complete with a giant trestle and tunnel.
British Columbia Biking Destinations
It's impossible to mention every single cycling destination in the Province, but there are a few outstanding 'hot spots' that we'll look at below:
Surrounding Rossland, the "Mountain Bike Capital of Canada", you'll find hundreds of kilometers of mountain bike trails including downhill, cross-country, 'Rails to Trails', and the new Red Resort Bike Park.
Fernie is the place to go if you're looking for some excellent cross country rides. But it's also getting a good reputation for BMX'ers and downhill riders as well!
Invermere, Golden, and the smaller communities of Kaslo and Kimberley also provide unique and exhilarating mountain biking activities.
