Unfortunately for most, many miss out on what Panama really offers - especially in the way of adventure! Since its only 85 miles from coast to coast - you can see and do a lot in a relatively short amount of time.

Panama Vacation - Adventure Ideas

Since you can cross the country in about 2 hours, why not start your morning off by surfing in the Pacific Ocean. Then, in the afternoon head north to snorkel or scuba dive in the Atlantic Ocean.

Panama also has some excellent jungle trails as well. In fact, the main attraction for most travelers to Panama is the rainforest. We recommend walking around Baru Volcano. There are a lot of good trails here and it's a good place to see wildlife!

For the outdoor enthusiast - You won't want to miss Darien National Park close to the Columbian border. It's easy to get to, and you can take nature hikes through the forests or try your hand at whitewater rafting.

In Chagres National Park you can explore what’s left of the King's Road and view awesome wildlife. This area is home to howler monkeys and jaguars!

Another must see is a visit to the colonial ruins of Panama Viejo and Casco Antiguo. Old Panama which is situated just north of downtown Panama City is impressive and is worth seeing. Entrance fee is only 2 dollars and it’s free on Sundays.

Directly south of Panama City is the Pearl Islands where you can find pristine beaches and excellent deep-sea fishing! If you're looking to get away from it all - the Islands are quiet with simple hut accommodations. Of course, don't forget to check out the snorkeling here as the waters are extremely clear.

On the northwestern coast of Panama, you'll find the absolutely stunning archipelago of Bocas del Toro. What’s here?

Beautiful beaches, fantastic coral reef, and a great nightlife! This is one of the top destinations in Panama!

Stay in the town of Bocas on Colon Island - where all sorts of adventure activities can be arranged including windsurfing, snorkeling, diving, and sea kayaking! You'll find a good selection of hotels and accommodations here for every budget.

There are 2 seasons in Panama - Wet and Dry! The "wet" season lasts from May to December, and it's dry from January through to April.

The best time to visit Panama is from November to February. It’s during this time that the weather is in transition and temperatures are a little cooler. You'll find that hotels are cheaper and it’s easier to book last minute tours during these months.
